What to Expect

Preparing for your Appointment

A little preparation can help you get the most of your time with the doctor.

Before coming in for your appointment, spend a few minutes planning what you need to discuss.

You may want to note:

  • What medication you are currently taking

  • What scripts you need to renew

  • What symptoms you are experiencing, when they occurred and how long they lasted.

  • Any relevant medical history or illnesses in your family that you may want to tell the doctor about.

  • Any questions you have for the Doctor

Waiting Times

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

We know your time is important.

At Emerald Medical Group, it is our aim that no patient has to wait longer than needed. However, at times, our doctors are busy and may be running behind or they may have been called to an emergency.

At these times, we will do our best to advise our patients of any wait times when they arrive at the practice.

Why do I have to wait a few weeks to see a GP?

Waiting times for the clinic vary based on how many doctors are available. We know this can be frustrating.

Please understand that we provide care to people living in Emerald and the surrounding Central Highlands. And we will always do our best to meet the needs of the community within our capacity.

Students at Emerald Medical Group

As part of this Practice’s commitment to teaching, and contributing to the education of future health providers, our practice provides placements for a variety of students (including Medical, Nursing, and Work Experience students)

You may have a student is observing or assisting your consultation.

If you do not wish to have a student involved in your care, please tell the receptionist, nurse or doctor.

We are happy to respect your privacy and request.
